Fire Ratings
Fire Ratings – Fire Ratings are listed as three numbers presented as –/–/–
The first number is ‘Structural Adequacy’ – this primarily relates to the structure the shutter is mounted to
The second number is ‘Fire Integrity’ – how long the door will last for before failing (Sprint’s shutters are certified for either 120, or 240 minutes)
The third, and final number is ‘Insulation’ value – Sprint’s shutters do not offer an insulation value. If Insulation value is required – we recommend you consult with the project fire engineer to investigate drenching (ie: spraying the door with water) to achieve the desired insulation value).
Curtain – Roll formed in-house from Australian made ‘Bluescope’ z275 galvanised steel, in 75/1.0 profile – with fire rating of either two (2) hour (120 minutes), or four (4) hour (240 minutes)
Steel Angle Bottom Rail – made from 2x 45 x 50 x 4.73 angles mounted back to back. The shutter bottom rail does not feature a rubber seal of any kind.
Drum – made from C350 seamless line pipe with diameter and wall thickness to suit door size. Cold drawn 1020 solid bar axles which are mounted on 38.1 ID sealed roller bearings. Australian made helical springs (for sprung doors)
Clips – cast iron clips replace the ‘standard’ plastic clips – but perform the same function. Preventing slats from moving sideways while in the curtain.
Guides – Roll formed in-house from Australian made ‘Bluescope’ z275 galvanised steel, guides are heavy duty 100 x 35 x 2.5mm.
Operation – Fire shutters can be operated by a Grifco Fire Shutter manual hoist – which incorporates special Grifco FIre Shutter chain hoist incorporating a fusible link and optional magnet release. Or finally (and most commonly) via motor – Grifco’s Fire Shutter motors are specially designed to allow ‘auto close’ on activation of the fire release – either fusible link or magnet connected to the fire indicator panel (FIP). Once triggered, the door will descent at a pre-determined speed (inline with the Australian standards) to the fully closed position.
Finishes – Doors can be supplied in Galv (silver), or have a ‘powder coat’ colour finish applied. Sprint works with the Dulux ‘Duralloy’ range of colours as standard. However Dulux’ other ranges (Duratec, etc) are available upon request (additional cost applies). *When selecting powder coat, please be aware that Sprint’s standard finish coats both side of each slat to give colour finish inside and out. This is a superior finish to one side (both sides have an extra layer of protection), plus the cost saving of coating one side vs both sides doesn’t stack up. So we can coat one (1) side if required – but it is not any cheaper.
